Suzuki GSX 1300R Hayabusa
If you drive a motorcycle, or just like them, you have probably heard for this motorcycle. The most important thing about it are its power and speed! It was the fastest production bike, when it was produced in 1999, with a top speed of 312km/h (194mp/h). This speed could be reached by models made from 1999 to 2000. Newer models (2001-current), have limited top speed on 299km/h. This ‘’limitation’’ was an agreement with Kawasaki, after this company launched ZX 12R in 2000.
The engine of the Hayabusa is the best feature! It is the same engine as on Suzuki B-King, but with more power. The first models (1999-2000) had 155BHP and 95.5 lb. ft., and a weight of 250kg. Newer models (2001-2007) are 4 kg heavier, because of the steel rear subframe. At first it was made from aluminum, but there were some situations in which it could break. From 2008, Hayabusa has 197BHP, (172hp on rear wheel). The top speed is still limited to 299km/h. It has a fuel capacity of 21L and 33mpg fuel consumption (7.1L/100 km). This engine is highly popular in other vehicles. Westfield Megabusa and Lotus Seven are just some of the vehicles powered by this engine.
This motorcycle is very popular in the US. In 2005 and 2006 more than 10.000 units were sold, each year. The common drawback of Hayabusa is its weight! Many owners complaint that it has bad cornering and it isn’t fun to drive. But, it is designed for traveling and drag races! This motorcycle is known for tuning, so there are many units with huge engine power (the most powerful has 748BHP). In 2006, OHP (Oklahoma Highway Patrol), used Hayabusa as a pursuit vehicle.
